This is one of my favourite things to have for breakfast in the cooler months, but it also makes a wonderfully easy, delicious dessert.

serves 6

Ingredients:

6 ripe pears (I love using Beurre Bosc pears for this, but any variety will be lovely)

2 oranges, juiced

80g unsalted butter, melted

4 TBS brown sugar

1 ts ground cinnamon

1 ts ground nutmeg

1/2 ts ground ginger

1/4 ts ground cloves

Method:

Slice the pears in half, removing the seeds & stem. Place in slow cooker.

In a medium sized bowl, add the orange juice, brown sugar & spices, & mix well.

pour the mixture over the pears & mix until the pears are all coated.

set the slow cooker on low & cook for 4 hours, or until pears are tender.

Serve & enjoy! For breakfast, I like to serve this onto of oatmeal with some of the warm syrup spooned over top & a sprinkling of chopped walnuts.

if I am serving this for dessert, I like to serve the pears & syrup spooned over my favourite vanilla ice cream.
